As to how similar the new Volt and new Cruze are going to end up looking.
Those roof lines and hood slope look pretty similar. I mean it'd only make sense, them sharing platforms.
The Volt certainly looks good though, in my opinion.

Dont make me nervous. This is further proof that GM is turning into Toyota.
![]() 01/04/2015 at 23:06 |

Nah, because when GM means new, they don't mean "We slapped a new body on a 7 year old car."

This looks like someone stuck a Volt, a new 200, and an ILX in a blender. Not yet sure if that's in a good way or not.
![]() 01/04/2015 at 23:07 |

That makes me feel a bit better. I hope thats how the new volt is
![]() 01/04/2015 at 23:08 |

But what about the bold, sporty exterior and the groundedness?
![]() 01/04/2015 at 23:10 |

Maybe that is the Volt in the spy shots? That grill is fucking awful though, it looks like a... grill.

I remember reading they're going over everything about the Volt and improving it. Apparently the main goal is to make the car cheaper to buy.

I see some 2015 Camry in there.
![]() 01/04/2015 at 23:13 |

Thats a goal they completely missed the mark on with the first Volt and especially with the ELR. Maybe if they make a new ELR (probably wont) it will be closer to the price range of the current Volt
![]() 01/04/2015 at 23:16 |

The ELR is stupid. If it came first and then the Volt, it might make more sense. But knowing that it's based on Volt architecture which is based on the Cruze econo-sedan. Hell. No.

i like the wheels on that civic.
![]() 01/04/2015 at 23:17 |

It would look so much better if they got rid of the ugly triangular silver fake grill.

Honda wants its Insight back.
![]() 01/04/2015 at 23:18 |

I think the Volt shouldnt even exist TBH. They should have just made the volt a package on the Cruze. The 2016 Chevrolet Cruze Volt doesnt sound so bad
![]() 01/04/2015 at 23:19 |
|
I just hope the Cruze still has red two tone leather
![]() 01/04/2015 at 23:19 |

The only place I see anything close to the Insight in this is the headlight shape.
![]() 01/04/2015 at 23:19 |

Breh its already out. It'll be one of these two:
![]() 01/04/2015 at 23:20 |

It kind of looks like a Civic fucked an Insight, and their spawn put on a grill.
![]() 01/04/2015 at 23:20 |

The Chevy Civic, yes. -_-
![]() 01/04/2015 at 23:21 |

Meh, the Volt is supposed to be a Prius fighter of sorts. Making it an option package on the Cruze wouldn't have really done that.
![]() 01/04/2015 at 23:21 |

Was it actually red? I thought it was brown-ish. I know there was red cloth.
![]() 01/04/2015 at 23:22 |

Fuck that looks terrible.
![]() 01/04/2015 at 23:22 |

ALRIGHT, yes it was brown...
(In my mind is oakland red)
![]() 01/04/2015 at 23:22 |

It would've been more profitable though
![]() 01/04/2015 at 23:24 |

I don't see Civic in anything except the roofline.
![]() 01/04/2015 at 23:24 |

You mean the Acura grill?
![]() 01/04/2015 at 23:24 |
|
Yupp. Kinda of upsetting though that somewhere in Asia (S. Korea? China?) gets it now and we have to wait a year or two.
99% sure it will look exactly like the one in black. We just get our own U.S. spec bumpers.
![]() 01/04/2015 at 23:26 |
|
I'm not too sure about that. The Cruze would have probably needed some serious modification to get the battery backs to fit. And people would see the price difference between a normal Cruze and Cruze Hybrid and not think it's worth it.
![]() 01/04/2015 at 23:28 |
|
Well we didn't get the current Cruze until 2011 when the rest of the world had had it since 2008.
God it used to be such a handsome car. Not it just looks like the Impala and Malibu had a kid that took the worst attributes from each.

Better than big bunches of black plastic. And Chevy probably didn't want to design a car without a "grille" because it would look abnormal to consumers.
![]() 01/04/2015 at 23:32 |
|
Still don't see it.
The upper grille and headlights have a different shape and the lower grille is totally different. The front window doesn't have that stupid black plastic bar in it and the character line looks to run lower and not be as bold. I will agree on the roofline though.
![]() 01/04/2015 at 23:41 |
|
They could have done better.
![]() 01/04/2015 at 23:43 |
|
Please, draw out a design you think is "better" and will look good to consumers with different ideas of what a good looking car is.
![]() 01/05/2015 at 00:01 |

Some Chevy exec took a look at Acura's corporate grille and went "Yes, I agree with that."
![]() 01/05/2015 at 00:04 |

I don't use body color plastic and blend it with the overall design,
not take stainless(or stainless looking plastic) and cut some designs in it.

Brick red

I think it looks kinda cool...
![]() 01/05/2015 at 02:04 |

It's not that simple. The Volt isn't just a hybrid trim on your base Cruze. It requires a lot more unique design.
